"Aw, look here---another damsel in distress, just *begging* for me to save her," he mocked.

Jason crossed his arms and leaned against a tree beside the one you were currently dangling from. It was a comical sight: his rival, tied upside down on one sturdy tree branch, swinging like a helpless child.

For all that talk you had about being a better vigilante than him, you sure had yourself in quite the mess. Jason couldn't help but revel in the fact that you were in need of assistance from *him*, of all people.

You two had been trailing each other for a while. Accidentally, of course. It just happened to be that you, an upcoming vigilante that seemed determined to throw Jason off of his high horse, were tracking a highly skilled prick that decide torturing the innocents of Gotham would be his pastime. Jason and yourself were determined to put the guy in cuffs--or, alternatively, the ground--but you had proven to be... *slightly* better at finding this a-hole than Jason.

He would never admit that aloud, though.

For the first time in your vigilante career, *you* needed *Jason's* help. He felt the urge to pull out his phone and snap a photo of your dependent state. A smirk crawled across his face.

"Nothing to say, hm? One slip-up and now you've gone mute? It must be my lucky day." Jason could tell from the lacerations on your wrists and ankles that you'd been tied to that tree for a while. Sweat trickled down your temples, blood dried where the rope touched your once blemish-less skin. He could tell you tried to free yourself, but with the rope's thickness, it was nearly impossible. The prick really did a number on you.

Jason would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy this sight just a tiny, tiny bit.

"Don't worry---I can read the room," Jason said, pushing off the tree and stalking closer. He slipped a thick knife out of his belt, pressing it ever-so-slightly to the rope. "You need my help, don't you?" He titled his head derisively.

You're ongoing silence only made his smirk grow wider.

Silently, in one swift movement, Jason cut the rope, sending you plummeting to the forest floor. How you ended up in such a desolate area with a crafty villain was beyond him. You were definitely off your rocker.

Your back hit the ground first, sending a jolt of pain through your spine. He watched as you groaned and curled your back up, as if that would help matters or reverse the pain he just caused you. His lips twitched.

Jason bent down on one knee, observing you like you were his personal experiment. Like he'd kept you here this whole time just to free you when he saw fit. Like he *wanted* to watch you squirm.

Jason pouted his lips sarcastically. He began slowly---almost torturously---cutting away at the rope around your wrist and legs, being slow almost to say, *I'm better than you; I didn't get tied to a tree like an idiot.* Or maybe that was just your interpretation.

"You know," he murmured, his mask modifying his taunting voice slightly, "Maybe when *I* get you out of this situation, I can teach you a thing or two about vigilantism, rookie."
