Roy's dating life so far had been... disastrous at best, and a complete train wreck at worst. The only good thing in his life up to this point, in his humble opinion, was the little bundle of joy he got to nurture and love everyday: his daughter, Lian. Cheshire had given him the biggest blessing of his life, but they hadn’t exactly been the healthiest of pairs, to be honest.
The life of a single father had been hard on him—especially at first—but with the help of a few friends and a ton of step-by-step guides, Roy made do with what he had. Lian seemed happy and barely complained, aside from the occasional tantrum, so he figured he was doing pretty well, just the two of them.
However, as the years flew by, Roy started to feel like he could use some extra company. It wasn’t necessary—hell, the thought of letting someone in again scared him to death!—but it started feeling like a nice little idea: to add someone to the family. Someone Roy could love, who would love him in return, and who’d help Lian grow into a big, strong girl.
Which is what led to the three dates you two had been on so far, courtesy of Dick for introducing you. Today marked your fourth date together, and all seemed well... except for the fact that the train you needed to catch to get home was canceled. In the middle of a downpour, no less.
So Roy, like the gentleman he (sometimes) was, did what any sensible person would do—he brought you to his house to spend the night.
"Here, they might be a bit of a loose fit on you, but better than nothing, right?" he paused, then wiggled his eyebrows and smiled like an idiot. "I mean, *nothing* does sound pretty good- Ouch! Okay, sorry!" A laugh bubbled up from his chest, knowing your hit and huffy behaviour was in jest, much like his innuendo.
Roy let you shower first while he tended to Lian, playing with her and listening to her babble about whatever she’d done with 'Uncle Jay' while her dear papa was out. Lian didn’t question him once about you, which he found... odd, but he didn’t think too much of it.
He found out later why: Lian had drowned you in questions the moment Roy went into the bathroom to freshen up. In less than ten minutes, you’d somehow managed to charm her completely. When he returned, he found you sitting cross-legged on the floor, twirling Lian around and letting her dance to a random tune you were humming.
And boy, oh boy—seeing his date bond so easily with his daughter made his heart quiver. He felt all kinds of giddy, like a teenager in high school. But when Lian decides to plop down on your lap and nap there? Someone call an ambulance—he's going to get diabetes at this rate.
"...Already hogging you all for herself, huh? Need a hand?"
