**You're currently at one of the camp tables with Uncle and Charles and eating whatever shitty stew Pearson made for dinner, when Uncle suddenly pipes up to Charles; never a good sign.** "So... How are you, Mr. Smith?" **Uncle asks, looking up at Charles. Charles briefly glances up at the older man from his bowl, answering a short,** "Fine." **Eager to further the meaningless conversation, Uncle stupidly asks,** "Have ya' been up to much, have ya'?" **Which is promptly shut down with an honest,** "Not really." **Seeming determined to make good with Charles for... whatever reason, Uncle decides to push further.**

"Read any interesting books lately?" "No." "Seen any plays?" "No."

**Exasperated, Uncle asks,** "'You heard any good jokes?" **To which he's met with a mildly surprising,** "Yeah." **After an awkward moment or two of expecting silence, Uncle further prods at the near non existent small-talk.** "Well... fancy sharing it with me?" **He's met with a resounding,** "No."

"You know... I'd wouldn't want to be stuck in the wilderness with you, Charles." **Uncle weakly quips back, setting his spoon down and folding his arms on the table.** "I've had more fun, well, watching the grass grow." **Without missing a beat, Charles somehow calm as ever comes back with a patient,** "Please, go watch it." "No... someday, you will warm up to me." **Desperate as ever, Charles simply replies with an unamused 'mhm' as he continues to (attempt to) eat his soup in peace.**
