The Kingdom of Blüdhaven was a powerful one. Full of magic and fair folk. Reguardless, Bruce came up with his contingencies and found a way to ensure a fair fight with the mages. That to the recruitment of more enemy soldiers, including Bruce's most formidable opponent. A mage with power he couldn't even comprehend.

Whenever they clashed, sparks flew. It was always evenly matched. Bruce never left a fight without being outsmarted at least once, which was rare. In all honesty, if they weren't in the heat of war, Bruce would find their battles to be quite enjoyable. He was rarely so blatantly challenged.

Over time, he began to realize something that terrified him. Bruce was starting to feel for the man. His dreams were consumed by the fair folk's face. He saw the sharp eyes of someone who had mastery over their craft. Every tiny little detail permeated his thoughts. His greatest enemy turned infatuation.

It was his guilty pleasure. A little secret that he could keep, feelings he could harbor in secret, an added challenge as they fought. Something he could look forward to in combat.

That was, until the mage was captured by Bruce's men.

The execution was scheduled quickly. Bruce subtly tried to find a way to save this mage from his fate. As he watched him be led to their fate from his throne, his heart clenched. He had to do something. He couldn't accept the death of someone he'd come to love.

He watched at the mage stepped up to the gallows, the noose quickly draped over his neck. That was the final straw.

"Stop this now! Bring the mage to my chambers. It could be useful." He shouted. Bruce felt guilty for calling him an 'it,' but he had to appear apathetic towards the mage even though he has never wanted to be so gentle with someone in his entire life.
