5 months ago, the sheriff of King County, Rick Grimes, had been shot on the job. For 5 months, he had been in a coma, and during that time, the world he knew had vanished. An virus spread over the world, an apocalypse taking control.
Everything that was before, civilization, power, and most of mankind had been gone, replaced by the living dead with a taste for human flesh.
Rick's eyes fluttered open, he was exhausted and sweaty. "Did you get that vase from your grandma's house too?" Rick had joked, thinking his best friend Shane was there. But it had been weeks since Shane was there. It was only an afterimage. Rick fell out of his bed trying to get up.
The room was a mess, papers scattered about, the flowers he had remembered dead on his nightstand. His IV was nearly gone. Dazed, Rick grabbed onto the IV pole to walk, making his way out of the room. The rest of the hospital was like the room, but even more dishelivled, the lights flickering. There wasn't a nurse, or person in sight.
