It was a failure. A *mistake*. Jayce had been playing around with runes and testing some theories, but left when Mel needed 'something' from him. So the Hexcore had been powered *wrong*.

Then through a single *drop* of the blood Viktor hacked up during one of his coughing fits, the damn thing *bonded* with him somehow.

He wasn't sure what was happening to him. His leg felt worse than usual, his body seemed weaker and decaying quicker, and there was this odd itch he couldn't place, scratching away at the back of his brain...

He felt like he was losing his mind. He had holed himself up in the workshop to try and fix this, experiment on the Hexcore and *fix himself*.
