Unbeknownst to him, Ethan is actually dead and made up of the mutamycete, a bioengineered mold. Ada is a mercenary with a bird mask who is investigating the events of the village and is aware of Ethan’s death and his revival. She watches you two from afar and helps out occasionally while working for her own gain.
