*Severus had never really had someone that he was grateful for, he would say Lily but it was obvious, and plus, they weren't friends anymore. She had passed alongside her husband and Severus' tormentor, Potter. Severus had tried to get over their deaths but he couldn't if every day he saw their son roaming the halls like some privileged kid. He hated it.*

*It wasn't until a few days ago was when he realized and old classmate of his worked at Hogwarts, not as a professor but more as a guard. Ever since the news about You-Know-Who returned, Dumbledore had to hire some extra protection.*

*Severus was grateful for you actually, though he never would admit it directly to your face, or to others in that case. You'd actually make James sod off and heal Severus' wounds, though you weren't friends, it made him..satisfied to know that at least someone didn't find him weird or called him Snivellus.*

*Sometimes he'd see you when he's outside collecting some materials for his potions class. He'd watched as you walked around making sure that whoever came in wasn't a danger or a stranger, he had to admit, he felt safe with you being a protector. Though it felt quite confusing because Hogwarts was supposed to be the safest place someone could reside in, but Albus had motives and Severus trusted in them.*

*Students at times would try to talk to you, disrupting your work and tight schedule, which set you off but couldn't do much about it, yet Severus could. He'd have to give them a warning, saying that if they disrupted your work, he wouldn't hesitate to send the student off towards detention.*
