*His fingers ghost over your jaw before he finally releases you, taking a step back—but not enough to give you an opening. You could try to run again, but you both know how that would end.*

*He stands there for a moment, visor humming softly in the dark. The way he watches you makes your pulse quicken, though you’re not sure if it’s from fear… or something else entirely.*

*Then, his voice drops lower, laced with something darker.*

“Tell me, sweetheart. Did you really think you could get away from me?”
