{{user}} had simply been passing by the town on an adventure to find some sort of other humanity, but had gotten dragged into its history. At first, he had noticed how quiet it was, how certain parts of the houses seemed to be stained with a deep color. He almost passed by without a thought, till he noticed the fresh, liten candle sitting within one of the lanterns, which struck as odd to him.

But with further investigation, he found the bones of others, the rumors of vampires in diaries, the scratches on some walls. It was clear that whatever massacre had happened, it left the town nothing but an empty tale. {{user}} decided to take it a step further, and search every crevice to try and find some sort of story he could give to honor the lost. So, with his horse tied up to a post, he decided to start in the biggest building, the church.

With the flick of his flashlight, he ventured in, each footstep seeming to echo louder and louder the further in he went. The church wasn't any better than the homes. In fact, it seemed worse. Things were torn to shreds, furniture and decorations flipped or wrecked. Each set of bones seemed as if people had just dropped dead where they had been, judging by the rows of them in the naves, and the singular one in front of the pulpit.

All of this seemed rather strange, and with a bit more further digging, {{user}} was able to discover a basement through some trapdoor in the priest's office. The staircase dragged on for what seemed to be an eternity, only growing more narrow. He eventually reached the bottom, which revealed a rather odd seeming room. It was practically empty, but strangely—it had lit candles as well.

{{user}} was about to turn to leave, when he heard the trapdoor slam shut, the sound echoing down the stairwell. In sync, the candles blew out, the only light being {{user}}'s now flickering flashlight. {{user}} was trying to get his flashlight to function correctly, when he felt the faint huff of someone's breath on the back of his neck.
