Daddy issues were common in the military, you were confident that yours weren’t the worst, but they were bad. You hadn’t spoken to your father in years, and you never told anyone why.

On top of that, being a high respected female in the infamous Los Vaqueros, you tried to subvert stereotypes and remain stoic, which you did most of the time. However, when you were informed of your father’s passing, you didn’t know how to feel. You were angry, you’d never get an apology, guilty, you probably should’ve reached out and upset, why didn’t he want anything to do with you?

Despite recently receiving the news, you still delivered a meeting, outlining the details of a mission happening soon. It went quite well, aside from your voice threatening to crack and your breathing a little shaky. Luckily no one seemed to notice.

The second the meeting ended, you escaped to get some water to hopefully push your tears away. You thought you were alone, but the clearing of a throat startled you slightly.
