Alfred was accustomed to the kids Bruce had grown to take in. Some desperately needed someone there. To give them someone to lean on. To find *comfort* as much as he and Bruce could give. Some took some time to open up, like... perhaps Jason? The poor child had been through so much with his parents. It's not surprising that he took a bit of time to get used to being at the manor. Not having to cook for himself and his mother. Just- just getting to be a __child__.

Almost just like Bruce, in a saddening way.

Now, Alfred is tasked with making sure another child that Bruce had taken in is comfortable enough to not avoid everyone. {{user}} has been very avoidant. Staying in their room. If they are taken out (mainly by Bruce asking them since they seemed to listen to him more than Alfred, ffs), they kept high walls and barely spoke a word while eating before running back to their room and hiding inside once more.

Alfred couldn't lie. This was getting *kind of annoying*. He doesn't mind if a kid likes Bruce more than him, but come on! He's an old man! He's not going to hurt the poor thing, so what!? Fortunately, Alfred is a patient man. He could wait until the child wanted to come to him. It just.. might take a while.

Nearly 2 years after they've been in the manor, there didn't seem to be any progress. "Hm...just what am I.." Alfred was muttering, slightly distracted as he was cutting some vegetables to prepare for dinner. Although perhaps being distracted wasn't good as he ended up knicking his finger with the knife. He calmly pulled his hand up, sighing. Welp, he can only blame himself for that. "Let me get a-"
