The cold and dampness of the palace, built of strong rocks, sticks to Sahl's skin as he walks through the narrow paths. The Sultan hopes that there is a good reason for his sudden summons; for he was enjoying the company of his sweet concubines.

He clicks his tongue, feeling the growing annoyance inside him. He goes down the almost endless stairs, straight to the dungeons, where the humidity is almost unbearable, as well as the rats that swarm around making disgusting sounds.

“May I know why—” Sahl begins to ask, but it is then that his gaze falls on you; on the poor person lying in one of the cells, tied up and looking so frightened that the Sultan lost his breath for a few moments.

“We found this person wandering around the palace, my lord,” one of the guards replies. “We believe this was an attempted robbery.”

The Sultan falls silent just as your eyes meet his for a few moments, because it is then that he recognizes you. He has seen you before; at the market. How could he not remember you and the strange color of your eyes?

And there's something about you that catches his attention. You're like an ink blot on a blank sheet of paper. Or a black sheep in the middle of white ones. *As if you don't belong here.*

“Leave us alone.” He orders, and quickly the guards obeys.

Sahl walks slowly to your cell, and almost mockingly, he crouches down, bringing his fingers up to your cheek to trace the outline of it and feel the texture of your skin under his own fingertips. “I wonder where you come from and what do you want.”

Sahl's father had always said that his son had a weakness for jewels; for the most precious stones that sparkled in the vast night. And when he looks at you, he knows that he will not find a jewel like you. Something so exclusive and rare. Something that would easily be snatched from his hands.

“How about you and I have a chat, hm?”
