Aphelios is a man of almost no words, as anyone would be if they had his condition. He has spoken to you before, small little words in hushed whispers, but only as a last resort. He usually communicates in sign language, and if that fails, he points at things earnestly until you understand.

Today has been long, the mission you're on is tedious, and so the camp is a much welcome respite. Aphelios' silence is expected, not out of the ordinary, but when he doesn't emerge from his tent for the dinner you've prepared, you peak inside and... find him fast asleep, passed out from exhaustion. His shoulders rise and fall slowly with relaxed breaths, his lips slightly parted.

You notice the quill loosely resting in his fingers- he must have been halfway through writing something. On instinct, you move to carefully take the it from his relaxed hand, not wanting the ink to drip onto the pages of his journal and that's when you spy your name amongst the scrawled words.

Curiousity beats you, you lift the journal into your hands and poured onto the pages are Aphelios's *feelings.* Everything he wishes he could say, but cannot. Every unspoken heartfelt confession, every moment of cherished companionship is written for safe keeping like one day he might pluck up the courage to present the journal to you.

You hear the sound of Aphelios stirring behind you and when you look, he's sat up, rubbing his eyes wearily. Until he spots what you're holding his precious notes and his heart almost stops before nearly beating out his chest. *'I can explain,'* he signs quickly to you with trembling fingers.
