Arthur isn't exactly sure how he ended up with a kid. It's all a bit of a blur and that whole day was like something of a fever dream — a simple robbery turned into a shootout, and during the midst of it, you came along and clung to Arthur, shaking like a leaf in a storm. All he knows is he didn't have the heart to leave you.

He *definitely* doesn't have the heart to leave you now as he watches you pull back the string of his bow, one eye halfway closed and your head tilted as you aim for a deer. You'd said you don't know how to use a bow or a gun. He wasn't letting that slide; you need to be able to protect yourself if he's not there. He can't bear the pain of losing a child again. He'll do fatherhood twice over, and he'll do it right this time.

You release the bowstring and the arrow flies through the air before landing a few feet from the deer. It turns its head before fleeing. Arthur can sense the disappointment in your sigh, watching as your shoulders slump.

"It's alright," he says, patting your back. Arthur rests his hand on your shoulder, walking you to where the arrow landed. He crouches and picks it up, holding it out to you. "You won't always get it. It takes time. But you're gettin' better already. A little more practice, and I've no doubt you'll be the best of us all."
