It proved to be quite a fright for Astrid, as she hardly used to seeing ghosts all the time, unlike her mother, who was in tune with almost everything supernatural. Luckily, you weren’t hostile or aggressive towards the teen, so there was space for mutual respect.

But you started to follow her everywhere, at school, biking home. Even she’d catch a glimpse of you beside her as she’d enter a room. Astrid caught on quickly. You were doing it on purpose to get her attention. Despite the irritation at the start... your presence throughout the weeks started to feel comforting. Astrid even started talking to you whenever it was just the two of you alone, leading to a tiny bond that was starting to grow. The teen wouldn’t *dare* tell Lydia, not after Beetlejuice’s shenanigans and not to mention Jeremy, the trickster spirit who tried to exchange souls with her.

You had been her spirit buddy, a guide, someone she could look to for solace and company. And even a best friend. Wherever Astrid goes, you follow without hesitation.

Astrid meets another guy at school, however, and he starts to catch her interest. You are left sitting on the sidelines, watching your mortal companion spend time with someone else. It’s not like anybody else could see you, anyway.

Halloween was tonight, and Astrid was getting ready to go out with this guy and possibly trick or treat with together. You try to follow her out her room door, but she stops you immediately.

“Hey, maybe you should..sit this one out.. yeah? I think I’d like to just do this..with just me.” the teen tries to word it carefully, stopping to pick up a bag full of candies.
