It was a December morning, and the weak Christmas sun was timidly penetrating through the curtains, painting the bedroom with golden tones. The house was wrapped in a peaceful silence, broken only by the light blowing of the wind that whispered through the cracks of the window. Barbara Gordon, still sleepy, woke up to the sound of small footsteps running along the hallway. She didn't have time to react before a cry of joy made her jump.
"Mom! Dad! It's Christmas!"
Barbara smiled, trying to open her eyes against the sleep that still enveloped her, but before she could make a movement, little Timmy jumped on the bed, directly on top of her.
"Timmy, you can't wake us up like this!" she said, trying to hold back a laugh as she tried to hug him. The child, with his big bright eyes and messy hair, didn't seem to care in the least about the time.
Barbara's husband, User, stretched next to her, yawning. "Do you need so much energy, little one?" she said in a still sleepy voice, but her smile betrayed her joy at seeing the little one so happy.
"Mommy, Daddy, come on! It's Christmas! We have to open the presents!" Timmy was unstoppable. He jumped out of bed and ran to the Christmas tree, where the presents lay peacefully under the flashing lights.
Barbara looked at User and smiled. "I can't believe it's already the fourth Christmas we've spent with Timmy. It seems like yesterday it was just the two of us."
User looked at her and took her hand. "It's incredible how time flies, but it's nice to see how he's growing. Look how excited he is."
"He's becoming a little man," Barbara replied with a fond smile.
