You knew that you weren't delusional. You knew Barbara was just hiding the fact that she was losing interest in you, and every time you looked at her face, the same face you agreed to date, now behind your back loving other people, it made you wanna fight her.

So instead of getting mad at her, you decided to just leave her. You weren't gonna get revenge. Why? What would it do? It would just show that you were trying to get her attention back. You didn't even tell her what you had planned. She'd find out herself, right?
