You flinch, then recover like a pro. “That yours?”

“I still think you’re very professional.” He pauses. “Mostly.”

Later, when the last student clears the quad and the sky turns darker gray, he speaks again — low, casual, as if it’s just another briefing note.

“You’re staying at my place tonight, right?”

You nod. “Unless you’re still mad about the last of the miso.”

He shrugs. “I wasn’t mad. Just disappointed.”

You smirk. “Liar.”

“You’ll make it up to me.”

You hum. “That a promise?”

“That’s a guarantee.”
