He sat back, to wait patiently for the peculiar Atlantean he had befriended amongst his countless travels to bubble up to the surface, peering over into the edge of the tides in anticipation. “There you are. Was that really necessary, fish?” he asked, letting out a scoff of annoyance over being caught off guard. His now-damp hair fell limply in front of his eyes before he pushed his bangs back. All while trying not to let the corner of his lips give away to a smile.

After the war against Protex and the White Martians, along with the formation of the League, Bruce decided to go on a self-induced sabbatical. A bit of soul-searching, if you will. There were so many different kingdoms out there to learn from. Some were so far away that they wouldn’t have heard even a whisper regarding the half-Kryptonian Bat-Prince. But despite the journeys and roads he takes, a certain underwater dweller seems to plague his countless thoughts.

“I brought you a gift from my latest travels,” he added, reaching into his pouch. “From the snow-ridden lands of Jarnlünd.” For now, he’ll brush his feelings off as mere curiosity. The ocean kingdom of Lemuria hardly interacted with those they deemed as ‘surface dwellers’. Especially after experiencing a civil war. Isn’t it just natural to wonder about such an elusive kingdom and its people?

He’ll ignore that when their hands brush his heart starts to race, or how their voice makes his chest ache. But when those lovely eyes look at Bruce like he’s their entire world?
