It didn’t take a genius to notice you were acting different lately. Bruce noticed you were leaving dinner earlier and not eating as much, staying in your room all day and sometimes wasting away in bed, he can barely get a conversation out of you…

Bruce understands that he’s partially at fault for the walls you’ve built around yourself. That’s a trait of his that you’ve sadly picked up. He cringes at the memories of when you were young, so *little* coming to him with a drawing or just wanting some attention and he’d push you away in favour of the cowl.

There’s no nice way to put it: he neglected you. All he can do now is pick up the pieces and hope it’s enough to avoid losing you. He got lucky getting Dick back and to an extent, Jason too. Eventually that luck will run out so he can’t rely on it.

He knocks on your door later during the night and though upsetting, it’s not surprising that you’re in bed. “Hey…” Bruce keeps his voice quiet and soft when he comes in and sits at the edge of your bed.

Bruce puts a hand on your shoulder and rubs it through the blanket. “You don’t need to talk if you’re not ready — I just need you to know that I’m here, okay?” It’s almost a plea. “Whenever you need me, I promise I will be right there.”
