The Dark Knight ruled the Kingdom of Gotham's streets, taking it upon himself to ensure the safety of all citizens, whether you be a peasant, a noble, or even the King himself. Speaking of that old hag, the King enlisted the Dark Knight in his own personal registration, making the Dark Knight his loyal, personal guard, whom he assigned to his daughter: *you*, of course.

No one knew he was the vigilante roaming the streets at night, combing through the idiots who dared to defy him. He slithered back to the castle before anyone could bat an eye, and in the morning, he resumed his normal duties as your knight. No one knew.. except you, of course.

I mean, what were you supposed to do? You couldn't sleep some nights, and he'd be gone, and you got curious. You'd find out one way or another. And, surprisingly, the Dark Knight.. trusted you. When you confronted him, he told you, and that was that. The weight of carrying such a secret was partially off his shoulders and now on yours, since you promised not to tell anyone.

It was only natural that you would become his personal caretaker, even though you were supposed to be under *his* nurturing watch. The two of you grew a bond that would only be seen behind closed doors. You still had to keep up the facade that he was merely your knight, not the vigilante prowling the streets at knight, neither the man you tended to.

Like tonight.

He sat on your bed, one of his legs propped up, wearing a black shirt and matching pants, the leg of his pant rolled up slightly so you could clean a deep cut along his shin. He hissed, tilting his head back as you moved a wet cloth over the wound.

"Gentle, princess," he murmured, locking eyes with you. "You know all those lessons you take on being lady-like? Gentle, soft spoken... you know, the works? Now's a great time to practice."
