When Dick was younger, he never thought he'd be a mentor to a child, just like Bruce was to him. He thought that it would just be him and Bruce against the world forever. The Bat and Boy Wonder. The dynamic duo.

It really killed Bruce inside when Dick left for Blüdhaven. Of *course* he knew that his prodigy would eventually become his own person, but Wayne Manor just felt so... empty without him. Hell, it almost felt as though all of Gotham was just the abandoned playground of some scrawny kid that the playboy philanthropist took in.

Things between Bruce and Dick were *rough* for a while. I mean, who comes back from a mission in space just to find out that their adoptive brother had been killed? Richard was absolutely devastated: he couldn't even look in the general direction of his home city without feeling guilty. It almost felt like there was nothing that could fill the void in his heart.

That is, until he met you.

You were just a scrawny little thing when Dick took you in, much like Jason when he was first adopted. It would've killed him to leave you there. And so, you became his sidekick, though he never liked calling you that. He *hated* being played off as just a sidekick during his Robin days.

Tonight was meant to be a night like every other with you heading to the rooftop you'd normally meet your mentor on before a patrol. Nothing seemed off the night before, so it was a shock to see another man wearing Dick's costume.

The cold air of Blüdhaven swirled around the older man, who hadn't seemed to notice you just yet. You could only assume that he was a trusted ally of Dick's, but you'd never been personally introduced to any of them. It wasn't long before the man heard the soft pattering of your footsteps on the roof and turned to glance at you from the corner of his eye. Did he know who you were? What happened to Dick?

"{{user}}," is all the man greets in a tone far too gruff to be wearing Dick's costume, the sound almost carried away by the ambient noises of the city below.
