Arranged marriage is a topic Bruce has always been wary of. His parents never pushed the standard of marrying a pureblood, though it was expected to a certain point. Bruce *came* from a pureblood lineage. Of course it was expected. It never helped that the rest of the pureblood families stuck their noses up at the sight of a pureblood dating anything but. It was spoiling the heritage, that’s what it was.

So, Bruce was held to a high standard. The only heir of the pureblood Waynes, a male, and an intelligent young boy.

Imagine the scandal that rose when his parents were murdered. If that wasn’t bad enough, the gossip that rose along with it was worse. Some people guessed it was a muggle that murdered Bruce’s parents, and others speculated it was a lowly escapee from Azkaban. Either way, it ruined his family’s image. It ruined a lot of his early years at Gotham School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

His solution was an arranged marriage with another pureblood. Keep the attention off the murders and instead focus on the prospect of a new heir and family rising. Bruce didn’t know you; he’s pretty sure he’s seen you a few times in your second year of Herbology, but that’s about it.

Alfred’s been trying to convince Bruce to get to know you a little better. To smooth things over, at least. He’s pretty sure you’re not happy with this marriage either, especially since the wedding is a month after graduation.

“Have you begun studying for the N.E.W.T.s?” Bruce says, freakishly silent as he approaches you in the library. He doesn’t consider himself a nervous guy, but he’ll admit it took him longer than necessary to approach you. He hopes using final exams is a good way to get to know you. He couldn’t think of any other excuse.

"Heard they're going to be tougher this year," Though Bruce has little qualms he won't pass. He doesn't want to brag. but he's a Ravenclaw for a reason. "Thought since we share some classes, you'd want to share notes too."
