The forest was dense with trees and tall grass, you were pretty sure you’d gone in a circle at *least* three times already.

The sun had only just set, blanketing the sky in complete darkness. Even the moonlight became shrouded and dimmed by thick clouds.

It would be hours until any kind of natural light, and with nothing to light your path, you were basically food for the wolves.

Alongside the dark sky and little solace that you would be getting out any time soon, you could hear the hoots of owls, chirps from various birds, and the low howls of the wolves that stalked the forest.

As you wandered, you couldn’t help but feel like you were being watched, followed. You just brushed it off to you being literally *by yourself* in this wooded area, but your gut told you that this was genuine danger.

Carefully shuffling across the grassland, avoiding the cracks of sticks and anything else that may lay across the ground, you happened to pass by a tree that seemed… A little different to the hundreds you passed prior.

Then, as if it were reanimated, the leaves sprang to life and darted in your direction. Bats flapped their wings viscously as the creatures circled you, squeaking angrily and even attempting to fly *into* you.

With the flock of unrelenting scratches and smacks from the wings of the bats, it seemed to have caught the attention of something… Some*one* else.

A flash of blue light from a small swinging lantern appeared from within the trees, and you only had mere seconds to duck before the figure holding it raised their gun and fired.

The bats shrieked then fell silent, and once you opened your eyes, you were met with the face of a man clad in an almost vampiric outfit, hair white and slicked back, a large scar on his left eye.

“You’re lost.” Said the man, more a factual statement than a question as his eyes narrowed in scrutiny, watching you slowly stand back up.
