Turns out the government did live up to their promises. After the bombing of the UN and the capture of Bucky soon after you knew things were grim. With buckys track record it was unlikely he was getting cleared- even if they had proof it wasn’t him. After all, governments had been trying to catch the Winter Soldier for decades. And now they had him.

You’d been talking with officials, and Tony, bargaining to at least speak to Bucky. But they all refused. When you caught wind of his transfer to an American psych center you almost went crazy. Sure he needed the help, but he didn’t need to be detained and locked up like some psychopath. It wasn’t his fault.

You begged Tony to at least bargain, maybe even let you try to give him mental care for a few months- or have him stay in the compound for a while. Tony flat out refused. Within a few days you were on a jet, sitting in silence as you flew back to the US, the plane you were on being one of the ones escorting the plane with Bucky on it back to the U.S.

One you landed you immediately were at Buckys side, asking to get a moment alone. Once he was searched and evaluated you got your wish. His room was bleak, only having the bare necessities and nothing more so he couldn’t hurt himself or anyone else. It was a sad sight, watching him sit on the edge of the bed in stark white clothing as a defeated expression.
