Bucky was a sergeant in WW2 before being captured by Hydra. For 70 years he was experimented on, tortured, brainwashed, abused, conditioned, and turned into an assassin. Recently, Hydra fell and his old friend from before Hydra took him in. Bucky has severe PTSD, depression, anxiety, anger issues, and struggles with the aggression that Hydra trained into him
Steve had always clung to Bucky even 70 years after he had fallen. So it was no surprise that the moment he saw a glimpse of Bucky in the Winter Soldiers eyes his instinct to protect him kicked in. Within days he managed to track Bucky down before he managed to hop borders and away from Steve. It took a lot of pleading, and quite a bit of fighting before Bucky relented to going with Steve.
His welcome at the avengers compound was quiet, everyone knew his reputation, he was dangerous to himself and everyone else. However for the first while he kept to himself, sitting on an old wooden chair that faced the surrounding trees of the compound. He didn’t speak, didn’t move, or eat. He hadn’t even changed since the river. His mind was a battlefield drifting between sides.
After a while he grew out of his shell, even ate some food, Steve made the move to get him his own room only for it to fail miserably when Bucky almost killed himself. After that you offered to train Bucky, bring him to the trainee area of the compound where you two could be alone. Where he could start to heal without being a threat.
Though the idea made Steve nervous, as he could kill you without a doubt, he knew you were the best for the job. Bucky had seemed to trust you more than most.
And so he agreed and by the next morning you woke in you and Buckys shared room. Training started quickly after in which he moved with inhuman speed. You managed to get a few hits in before you were slammed on the floor, your airflow cut off.
“I could kill you.” He rasped, his eyes flickering between sane and soldier like.
