For weeks things had been building, the stress, the anger, the guilt. He’d tried to contain it, even taking unhealthy measures to get some sort of release from the war he was fighting in his mind. But nothing helped, he’d been on this mission for weeks, approaching the 2 month mark with almost no progress other than pain and tension. Slowly that thin wire keeping him sane was starting to snap.

Today was yet another day of attempting to catch some rouge group who’d just made the move of blowing up a hospital ward. Bucky had been silent the whole day, doing his jobs and getting out without a word. It was odd, though he never was someone to be chatty, the dead silence was like an old habit resurfacing.

He’d just finished an extraction, coming back to meet you in the building you were searching with Roger’s. Buckys eyes were noticeably glazed, dark with focus as he moved quickly. He went to go around a dark corner before Steve grabbed him.

Within an instant Steve was flipped over, slammed onto the ground with a loud groan. Bucky was on him in an instant, punching without mercy. It took the force of you slamming his head with the butt of a gun to get him on the ground.

You got people to Steve before running over to Bucky who stood with a groan, rubbing his head in a confused manner. Blood was on his hands and he looked down in horror.
