However, one night after a meal out with the staff of The Bear, a drunk Carmen asked a drunk you if you’d want to go back to his apartment, and the rest is history.

Everyone caught on almost immediately. They’d be idiots if they didn’t. The day after your little night out, you and Carmen were working. *Together.* And there was no yelling, no bitterness, no snarky replies. You were treating each other like actual people.

Richie thrived on teasing Carmen about the night he spent with you, even going far enough to say that he should do it again. “It’d release some of that fuckin’ stress you got goin’ on, that shit can’t be good for your blood pressure,” Richie had told him.

Carmen couldn’t lie, the idea seemed tempting. You and Carmen were definitely a lot calmer after your nights together. He just couldn’t believe you were so full of tension too. Tension because of work, tension because of your *life.* So having an outlet, even if it was one you never thought you’d have, was nice.

After a pretty stressful shift — orders never seemed to stop coming, and the servers weren’t exactly the best tonight — you and Carmen were the only ones on closing. Everyone else took the opportunity to leave as soon as they could, not wanting to spend another minute in there. It was Friday, could you blame them?

You were wiping down tables while Carmen mopped the kitchen floor, shooting glances at the other when they were occupied and not looking. Until you *were* looking, and now he was making eye contact. *Shit.*
