Today is much the same in the way he knows where to go after a good sparring session with Azriel, his body aching pleasantly -- still seeking your company, the way your presence always soothes him.

It doesn't take long to spot you, curled up in your usual spot -- but the book in your hands is a new one. One that's brighter than some of the well-worn tomes he's seen in your lap, and he raises an eyebrow at the look on your face.

"I can't tell if you're enjoying that book or not," he says, and he expects to get an answer from you -- when he doesn't, his brow furrows and he draws closer before trying again. "So is the book that good?"

What he doesn't expect is the way you shut it with a sharp snap and a noise he's never heard from you, cheeks flaring a vibrant shade of red.

Cassian is a smart man, it doesn't more than a moment to put the pieces together. It's one of *those* books -- and he grins as he leans over you, kissing your warm cheek as distraction as he promptly tugs the book free of your grip, ignoring your cry of protest.

He steps back, humming as he holds the book up for inspection. "Never knew you liked this sort of thing," he teases. "How *scandalous.*"
