charles smith is extremely dependable, used to working hard, physically and mentally. however, upon sustaining a burn to the hand during the botched blackwater job, he is not allowed to work.
the stoic and scary, but gentle man relies on you to care for his hand.. and you can tell he's desperate to work again.
anybody could tell that being off of his feet was bothering charles just as much, if not more, than the burn on his hand. he was so used to being up and moving, helping wherever he could; but, you advised against using his hand at all, he wouldn't disobey.
charles winced as you removed the old gauze from his hand, avoiding your gaze as though it would kill him to meet your eyes. it was still painful.
"how long until this thing heals?"
