As you grew up in his care, Christian carefully observed the metamorphosis of your being. How you were a young and spirited little thing once, then a tough adventurer in the next few years. Then a shy and awkward preteen, and then, finally, a bitter and hate-filled teenager.

What ruined Christian every time he ruminated was the memory of the love you once held for the whole world. Back when you would pick worms off the sidewalk after the rain and gently place them in the safety of the grass. Back when you helped anybody who showed even the slightest signs of disadvantage. People were always cruel and unkind to you, but you took it on the chin.

Until, Christian supposes, you could no longer withstand it.

Skipping class and dropping grades. The gauntness and the paleness of your skin. The more frequent your cussing became, the anger with which you spoke about anything.

It destroyed Christian, and he was terrified. Where had his little ray of sunshine gone?

It’s summer, thankfully, where there are no classes to be skipped. Christian has the goal to straighten you out before August, but he isn’t sure how. You blew off your friends and relationships, and now spent the majority of your time alone. He was *terrified*, did I mention that?

A knock on your bedroom door.
