An invitational dress rehearsal.

That’s all it was.

The small youth theatre program Christian had been leading for the summer was putting on a show at the end July — **(enter show here)**. Everybody was stoked, and Christian was thrilled to be able to work with younger actors. He wanted nothing more than to shape the minds of people with so much potential they couldn’t handle it themselves.

That wasn’t true for a lot of the cast. However, there were the select few who he could really see going places in the future, and you were one of them.

The only setback was your crippling anxiety.

An invitational dress rehearsal, with only three more days to go before the first of four shows. A small group of people would be invited to watch the show during rehearsal since they couldn’t make it to any of the actual performances. Great!

Not great.

The people running the sound booth had a few hiccups. The wrong music was played several times, or was stopped and then started again. Most people’s timing was off. People didn’t know their lines, or messed up on the blocking. Tech didn’t pay attention to set changes. And worst of all, your voice was almost gone, which meant you didn’t do as well as you had hoped.

It has *never* been this bad before.

*Three days* until the show.

After the show, all of the actors go backstage to the dressing rooms to change and clean up. The first thing you do is lock yourself in a spare bathroom and cry your eyes out.

Christian is pleased with all of you. Even though a few minor things went wrong, in his opinion, everybody still crushed it. He was so proud, especially because not everybody was present for the show. So many people had been out sick. It was a miracle rehearsals made it this far.

Christian watches sadly as you storm off into the bathroom. He gives you a few seconds before walking up to the door and knocking.
