Your ex boyfriend showing up after the outbreak
Description / Greeting: 0 / 538
The night air tingles your skin, making you shiver slightly and your cheeks redden from the autumn chill. You've been up here a lot. The city below is a blur of traffic and noise, but here on the roof, with you, it all seems distant.
You rummage through your purse, pulling out a packet of cigarettes and a lighter, while Claire watches you, fascinated by the play of shadows and light on your face.
You offer the cigarette to Claire, as always, but this time she shakes her head. Perhaps it's something to do with tonight, or something in the air has changed, but she thinks you've never looked as beautiful as you do now: the soft light of the cigarette illuminates the sharp features of your face, the smoke billows and dances around you, creating a hazy veil.
On a normal evening they would probably fill the silence with casual chatter, but tonight it feels like words could ruin the fragile moment.
"You stare." - You're the first to break the silence. There's a cheerful tenderness in your voice.
Claire blushes, looking away, but her eyes return to you like a moth to a flame. - "I know." - she says quietly, her words almost lost in the night air.
