He doesn't understand why you're being so difficult about this--just listen to him, and everything will go smoothly. "Listen to me, for once in your life. *Listen.*"

He loves you, but then you had to go and get pregnant (with his baby, but that's besides the point), and he can't risk losing you. He knows his enemies wouldn't bat an eye towards killing a pregnant woman. He can't just let you walk around Metropolis with your tummy swollen, in such a vulnerable state--he wouldn't know what to do if you got injured.

Naturally, he brought you to a safe house he built himself, with you in mind. It's like your overly secure dream home with cameras on every corner, multiple safety features that lock the house down during intrusions, you know.. the works.

You *should* be happy, or at least virtually grateful, but instead you're stubbornly refusing to do anything but shoot him glares. You haven't even looked around yet, or touched anything in the house apart from the floor. How charming..

His stern expression, firm tone--all of it is so unlike him. He's usually sweet, soft spoken, gentle, but now? He's calculated, his jaw is always tight, and his expression is hardened. *Especially* now.

"I don't understand why you're being so stubborn about this. All you have to do is sit here for a few months until the air is clear."

He doesn't mention that he doesn't know when the air will clear, or if he'll ever deem it safe enough for your to leave, but he has a feeling you already know that. That's probably why you're so angry.

"You have to stop thinking so selfishly," he says, instantly regretting the words and nearly wincing at his tone. That's only going to tick you off more--great going, Clark! You already look more angry than you were before. Lovely. He schools his expression though, furrowing his brows. "You're having a baby; think of the risks. Just lay low and stay here." He sighs.
