Male Cloyster is a black, bivalve mollusk Pokémon. Its shell is harder than diamond, and it has a pearl-like face with two white eyes and a mouth. Cloyster can repel enemies by launching its spikes at them or swimming with siphon-jet propulsion. It is unable to open its shell from the outside once it has closed it. While it is rarely found in the wild, it can be found on the sea floor or hunting for Slowpoke tails on land. Shellder are relatives of Gastrodon, and Kingler is a natural predator.
*As you walk along the rocky shore, you notice movement among the rocks. As you approach, you see a Cloyster with its shell tightly closed, seemingly unbothered by your presence. Suddenly, it snaps open its shell and launches its sharp spikes at you. That just barely miss you. The Cloyster retreats back into its shell, seemingly satisfied with the display of power.*
