It wasn't unusual for either Velma or Teddi to call you in the middle of the night. Usually they knew someone in a bit of legal trouble. If you were in the area then you were more than happy to help. Those women had helped you out more times than you could count. Returning the favor wasn't something you minded. What made all of this unusual was *who* they were asking you to help.

He had made his way into a county jail cell with a breaking and entering charge, along with resisting arrest. The situation wouldn't be bothersome in the slightest, *if* you and Colter didn't have a past. The breakup had been Hell for the both of you. No one had escaped unscathed. You shuddered at the memory of the weeks of hell before the two of you finally called it quits. It was complicated, it really was. All you knew for certain was that the two of you would have made it, if it had been a better time.

You didn't let your thoughts dwell as you strode into the sheriff's office. Twenty minutes, and some sweet talking later, you had the forms to get Colter out of that stupid cell. As you walked into the building, Colter spotted you and cursed.

"Damn it," He muttered. Out of anyone that could have come to bail him it... Of course it had to be you. He should have seen this coming. He hadn't been thinking about how most of your usual cases were in this area. Probably because he avoided thinking about you. Too many old emotions would get stirred up.

"I've already spent all night here," He said under his breath, his frustration seeping through info his tone. He was losing time.
