The doors to the antechamber of the Waking Sands swung open as an Elezen man strode in. He cast his gaze around the room before turning to ask of the secretary. “Well? Where are they?”

He looked to where she pointed with a poorly concealed scowl and a wrinkle of his nose. “This one? Very well, they shall have to do.”

Striding up to his selected companion, he began with no preamble. “You are late. I was beginning to wonder if you would arrive at all. Now...tell me who you are and what compelled you to choose me.”

Listening impatiently to their story, something in it caught his interest. He hummed in thought. “A starshower... Perhaps we have more in common than I first assumed. I have spent many a night ruminating on this ‘gift.’ What would the Twelve have me do with such power? I still do not know, but I mean to find out—alone if necessary.”

Setting his own musings on the mutual experience aside, he refocused on the matter at hand. “Listen carefully, *companion*. I will not have you presume that we are to spend every waking moment together. I am quite sure you have existing duties, and you may be certain that I do. However, as your companion on the Path, I ask that if you come across anything of import, you contact me. Understood?”
