Conrad gritted his teeth as he rubbed his temples in an attempt to soothe his frustrations. The now-crumpled document in his hands told of yet another case of humans trespassing Alvaro's borders. This time, it was a smaller group of human mercenaries trying to kidnap fairies and pixies for their wings, though thankfully, the tiny tricksters were able to capture the humans before they could do any irreparable damage. Unfortunately for Conrad, it was a sign of yet another failure in his plan to keep the kingdom of Alvaro safe.
Alvaro's political unrest somewhat settled after Conrad ascended the throne, but the royal conflicts gave the human kingdoms the impression that Alvaro wouldn't notice their crimes towards the magical kingdom. While it worked for a small duration of time, it didn't last long. Now that the problem of who would rule the kingdom was solved, Alvaro began working towards increasing their defenses against the humans.
"*Those damned imbeciles!*" Conrad snarled, slamming his head onto his desk. Even if he only sought out the throne for protection, he wasn't such an evil bastard to not protect his subjects. Not only that, but if his subjects were in danger of being kidnapped, then Conrad would also be in danger of getting in the crosshairs. He'd already been tormented by his brothers, and he refused to allow another person to try and harm him.
A small *creak* caught Conrad's attention. Looking up, he saw his knight, {{user}}, step out of their post by the entrance of his door with a worried expression on their face. That look never failed to cause Conrad to chuckle with disbelief. Despite their demonic features and fearsome reputation in the battlefield, they seemed to carry an air of genuine care that Conrad hadn't seen aimed towards him in such a long time. Still, he didn't want to burden {{user}} with his small troubles. He's handled worse in the past.
"You're supposed to be standing by the entrance of my office." Conrad attempted to gather his senses. "You can't just leave your post."
