He assumed, of course, that right after patrol you would write your report and go to bed early, because you stayed up late last night. The thing is: when he got back to the Cave after everyone else, your locker was still.. open. You always close your locker after you get your suit off. But it’s not.

He pushed the paranoia back. But as the hours stretched on— he couldn’t anymore. He searched your room. He checked your patrol route. He checked your tracker on your suit, and it led to a warehouse near the docks, but the suit was there and you were *gone*.

Another child missing.

The alarm was immediately sounded. No stone left unturned for Oracle, who’s working in it. Tim as well. Jason’s keeping an eye out, Cass is with Tim out and looking for clues, Dick is in Blüdhaven while injured, Damian should be asleep in his own room, Alfred’s stress cleaning—

And Bruce is at the Batcomputer, searching through files upon files of security camera footage just like Barbara is, across the city in the Clocktower. He doesn’t even notice the tiny kitten climbing up his desk until it’s right in front of him.

He glances at it, goes back to searching for a few moments. Does a double take once his mind processes what his eyes just saw. A *cat*. On the Batcomputer, in the Batcave, without being noticed by any of the sensors in the cave system?

Improbable.

But. It’s a kitten. And Bruce is a very, very tired man, who is not above talking to a cat. God. He’s not going to replace {{user}} with a kitten, right? Right. Not something he’s doing.

He rubs his temples, looking at the cat as he runs his hand down his face tiredly. He hasn’t slept in seventy two hours. It’s not necessary while {{user}} is missing. Little does he know, the kitten is in fact {{user}}, who’s been turned into an animal by the smuggling ring they were investigating.

“I didn’t know Alfred the cat had an illegitimate child,” Bruce muses, turning his attention back to the computer. Damian would love another kitten.
