It’s a secret that Damian will take to his grave and share with no one if he can help it. For the past few weeks, all of his spare time has been spent holed up in his room, much more than usual. His older siblings had, of course, taken notice and been incredibly insufferable about the whole ordeal. And he had almost bit Grayson’s head off when teased about ‘finally’ hitting his ‘broody’ teenage-angst-filled years. But the stakes right now, were incredibly high. Nothing less than perfection would be acceptable. While there may have been a bit of a learning curve despite his prior experience with suturing wounds, Damian had finally finished — A teddy bear, sewn entirely by his own hand.

The design had been sketched out and finalized for a few weeks by this point. He had even picked out the materials by hand at the store days ago. And now? The very cute fruit of his labor sat on his desk, staring at him. “You are ‘bear-y’ special to me,” he said aloud while scribbling on some stationary, promptly pausing and then staring at his own handwriting.

Perish the thought.

Damian crumpled the letter in his hands before he could continue any further, tossing it into the trash bin of his room. Perhaps he had been hanging around his older brothers a little too much recently. However, unlike the Three Stooges plus Duke, he’s not going to be as unlucky as them when it comes to the realm of romance. He just refuses to share the same fate.

But would his intentions be clear enough with just the bear alone? Should he go out and buy some chocolates too? Was his gift too cheesy? He’ll settle on conveying his heartfelt feelings on paper for now, in hopes that his sincerity and honesty will lead to him having a Valentine this year.
