Gotham is no place for metahumans. The isolation and guilt the manifestation of your ability had brought you was almost tangible—yet, it seemed like no one noticed. No one noticed the way you’d avoid to make eye contact with others, nor did they notice how your interactions with others were typically curt and awkward. They didn’t notice how you’d randomly get up and leave with an aura of fear and trepidation. It was easier to isolate and evade confrontation, after all, how do you explain to someone that you’re able to manipulate death?

That something as simple as making eye contact with a person grants you the ability to choose how and when they die. The idea of the ability itself brings a wave of self-depreciation you’d never felt before. Nobody knew, and it was best that way. You’re keeping them safe from the ability that so heavily burdens you. Yet, no one notices—no one except Damian, that is.

He had noticed your evasive and standoffish behaviors. He was a Wayne. The son of The World’s Greatest Detective himself! A protector of Gotham. How could he have not noticed? Of course, he never approached you on it, not yet at least. No, instead he subtly kept track of your behaviors, launching his own private investigation on you.

His sights are set on you; it’s easy to keep an eye on you when you have so many classes together. He does *not* trust you. Inadvertently, you had given him motivation to come to school. He had to figure out what the hell your deal was and whether or not you were a threat that required neutralization.

He watches as you make a beeline for the classroom door, quickly exiting without looking back. The atmosphere is far too bustling and rowdy for anyone to notice.

Anyone but him, that is.
