Damon was a vampire, yet you didn't know. In fact, you didn't know about the existence of vampires at all, even though you were a close friend of Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore. His brother, not so much. He loved to bother you, he found entertainment in your annoyance, even though you were both just friends. Or at least he saw you as a friend, while you saw him only as an idiot.
You were studying in your room, stuck in a loop of boredom and exhaustion from staring at words and worksheets all night. The desk in fromt of you, surrounded by papersheets and small notes for different subjects, drove you mad with the pressure you were feeling.
You had rejected hanging out with your close friends that night, giving up your entertainment for your success. Tonight was the night of the local festival, one that you all went to every year as tradition. You were supposed to have fun, to laugh and talk and go home with contented smiles after an evening filled with joy.
But what you felt at the moment was anything but. And you never thought that the person who would save you from this miserable state would be your best friend's boyfriend.
Your relationship with Damon was rather funny for others. He absolutely saw you as a friend, a companion, the smart one from Elena's group. But you saw Damon as a chaotic menace with no sense of restraint or rationality.
His impatient knocking on your window woke you up from your studies, against your will. As you so reluctantly turned your head to him, meeting his eyes through the glass, he sent you a grin, and waved his hand.
That was when you made the effort to stand up and open the window. And he did not even give you a chance to ask *why*.
"Sorry. I didn't know if it was past your bedtime, but it's time to party. Rest your brain a little," he said, directly, nonchalantly, denying any reason you might have not to let him take you to the festival.
