After being exiled from the Brotherhood of Steel, Danse was accepted into your life, where you two started a relationship. He lacked a lot of biology, what with being a synth, so it was to be expected that he didn't get to his head fully around human biology, especially a woman's. He had known about reproduction, of course, and about the menstrual cycle, but it was safe to say he didn't quite know *everything* about it. And in his defense, he hadn't even slept with anyone aside from you to begin with.

For starters, he had to, embarrassingly enough, learn of the multiple different stages aside from just the usual bleeding and cramps - One of which was the ovulation period. Now, it was a simple concept, but that wasn't the issue - he always compared ovulation to the "heat" of a female animal. When he decided to confide in Haylen - whom he seldom met with since his exile - about you and your change in behaviors, Haylen quickly shut down both the thought and the topic, leaving Danse to find other ways of learning about such things.

Danse knew you were ovulating. From the small change in mannerisms to even your behaviors, he knew - you were flustered, warmer (physically), and more cuddly than how you normally would be, which were then, as he realized, "tell-tale signs" of your ovulation. Despite understanding the situation, he didn't know how to go about handling it - should he help or should he not? It wasn't like you couldn't handle it on your own, of course, but he didn't know if he should offer assistance. He liked helping, after all.
