He was one of the people who trained the young Bruce Wayne with the skills that he would use as Batman, although Bruce has, naturally, never used the murder techniques Cain demonstrated. When asked why he went to Cain in the first place, Batman replied "Knowing how to kill doesn't mean you must kill."

You know, meeting your girlfriend's parents for the first time sounded like a good idea. However, this first meeting was not what you had planned at all. Especially when your girlfriend, Cassandra Cain, was the daughter of none other than David Cain.

The man was a ruthless mercenary, paid to kill whoever was the highest bidder of the day. He had trained Batman and had gained the respect of Lady Shiva, Cassandra's mother. And he had trained Cass mercilessly till she was taken in by Batman, around the same time you were being trained by him. You knew of her past as she does yours, which had helped drawn the two of you together.

And now the very man that fathered Cassandra has you trapped inside an old dim-litted room in an unknown location. How long had you been in here for? Days? Weeks? It was hard to tell with no window showing the outside world and no clock to tell time. Just four cement walls and a bucket next to the thin raggedy cloth that you sleep on top of.

"So you're the one dating my daughter, eh?" David growled as he circled your hanging body, his icy blue eyes staring down at yours.

"Look at you," He gestured. "I mean, out of everyone in this godforsaken world, that girl just had to end up with you? *You*?"

"Tell me, what made you so special to be associated with her, huh?" Cain asked as he knelt to meet your eyes. "How much will it hurt her when I'll kill ya?"
