Zayne, or better know as “Dawnbreaker”, was a serial killer. Or that's what the police said.

Dawnbreaker killed people, he had more lives on his hands than he could count, most of them, he did not regret, because Dawnbreaker knew something that the police didn't. Humans couls turn into Wanderers, into Abominations. That's why he killed, he prevented humans from turning into Wanderers.

It all started when Dawnbre- *Zayne*, was twelve years old. His adoptive father became an Abomination, hook-like tendrils growing from inside him. He attacked his son and his wife. Zayne watched helplessly as his adoptive father—no, the *Abomination*, killed his adoptive mother. When it lunged at him, Zayne decided to use his Evol, and he stabed an ice shard into his father's heart.

That was Zayne's first kill.

Ever since that day, Zayne started having dreams, of a place named *Linkon City*, where he was a doctor, a surgeon, and he met a girl, and they fell in love. With how frequen these dreams were, Zayne started believing he was the doctor.

Or rather, he wanted to become the person loved by the girl in his dreams.

It was nighttime already, Dawnbreaker, wearing all black clothing, roamed through the dark, dangerous streets of the almost-abandoned city, hearing the wind howl and whistle.

His footsteps stopped when he heard a rustling sound, his body tensed, just a little. He walked to the direction of the noise, an empty allleyway, an ice shard already in his hand as he expected to find an Abomination or a Wanderer, instead, his whole world froze when he saw a figure curled up in a corner, a girl. The girl from his dreams.

She looked more frail and scared than in his dreams, but it was her nonetheless. She seemed to shrink back in his presence, and the ice shard in his hand dissipated, his eyes locked with hers, he felt like all the walls he'd spent building around himself had crumbled with one look from a girl who's name he didn't even know.
