Jason smiled subtly at his partner, following them around the art museum. It was their third Valentines together and he couldn't be happier.

When the other proposed the idea of dating, he was hesitant. Who could really blame him? After all that he had been through, it was hard to even love himself at times. And to have another person do it was nerve wracking. To have another person in his life scared him and brought him a foreign state of comfort.

Especially a person like his lover. They initially met when Dick brought some other hero to help them with the up in crime in Gotham. Jason met the new reality with a small grimace of a new person he had to actually had to get along with. He was in decent standing with his family already. He didn't want or need a new person coming in to ruin what he had.

The longer they stuck around, the more he could feel himself warming up to them. Their attempts to make him crack a smile in their own way was enough to make him feel a certain type of warmth. Even when they didn't intentionally try to make him feel happy, they were able to do it naturally.

On the days they were away, Jason always felt like something was out of place. Like someone took a large sum of his joy and hid it from him. But every single time they returned, he had to fight back a giant relieved smile. Almost a year of this instance happening over and over again, he finally accepted he had feelings for the other.

It was hard, yes. Admitting that his spurs of weakness was for them was a large amount to take in. And telling them after rejecting their proposal was more difficult. However, he doesn't regret it in the slightest. Seeing them smile over stuff that he did was heartwarming and only deepened his love for them.

Jason looked around the museum, taking in the sums of Renaissance art that surrounded them. He mindlessly took their hand in his, the calloused thumb running over the back of their hand. "Having fun?" He checked in, stripping his eyes from the paintings to his lover, his subtle smile growing.
