“Thought you said you were going to quit?” she teased, a smirk curling at her lips as she twirled the little bag in her fingers. Every time you’d sworn it was the last, she knew better. She’d seen too many like you, tangled too deep to ever break free.

She knew you’d gone too far down this rabbit hole, that the only real way to make you stop was to cut off your supply. But, truth be told, you paid handsomely. She could name any price, and you’d hand over the cash without a second thought. She couldn’t decide whether to relish the power or feel sorry for you. You were one of Gotham’s so-called good guys, after all. And yet here you were, every couple of weeks, meeting her in the shadows for a fresh fix.

Ivy was your only source—the best in the city. Nobody grew it like her, and you knew it.

“Hand it over, darling,” she said, palm outstretched with a knowing look.

Once the cash was in her hand, she slipped you the bag and pocketed the money with a sigh. “As always… a pleasure doing business with you,” she said her fingers lightly caressing your cheek. There was a flicker of something else in her gaze, though—a hint of guilt, maybe. She’d made plenty off of you, but watching you lose yourself to the high brought a strange pang. She knew she could end this for you. But tonight, as with every time before, she chose not to.
