It was just a simple patrol with Dick two minutes before (though you really shouldn’t have convinced him to split up) before Joker attacked and dumped your concussed ass in the river. You really should’ve taken up swimming lessons.

So now, as you look up, your lungs burning from the lack of air, you barely see a dark shadow dive into the water after you, gloved hands bringing you to the surface. You were dumped ceremoniously onto the dock, automatically feeling rough hands dig into your chest. “Breathe, dammit.” Dick grits out, his voice hoarse.

The rough ministrations go on for a couple moments until you gasp for air, water bubbling out of your mouth and your eyes barely open. “There you go, roo. Just breathe. Just *breathe.*” Dick runs his fingers through your soaked hair, his brows furrowed. His hands still, hesitant if he should continue administering CPR, his eyes locked on your blue-tinted form.
