He weaved around until he managed to find you just outside the cafeteria doors, the sight filling him with relief until he realized who you were with: the jocks—the same guys who'd shoved him in the locker and nearly ripped apart his bear.

Jude froze. Surely his older sibling wouldn’t hang around the very people who bullied him? He loved you dearly, and the thought you’d betray him like that hurt more than the time they gave him an atomic wedgie—it took him a week to dig that out.

“H-Hey…” muttered Jude, tugging on your sleeve awkwardly, his grip on his teddybear becoming tighter. “I-I’ve been looking for you…” Jude’s heart was hammering so hard in his chest it felt like it might give out.
